What is Zakka 81 ?
Rie says this about her lovely store :
"We specialise in imported Japanese zakka (meaning knick knacks) and handmade one of a kind products. I carefully select zakka from some of the most up and coming designs from Japan .
They are very unique and cool items that are difficult to get outside of Japan. As for the handmade products, I am doing one of the traditional needleworks called SAIKUMONO. Saikumono is a very delicate hand sewn craft from time gone by which disappeared during a period of war, but now it is revived anew. The Japanese women used the art of Saikumono to express the beauty of nature though out the four seasons using old kimono fabrics. The little sachet type of craft is used to put plectrums for their Koto (harp type instrument), also used for perfumes etc. This idea is very old like 200 years old but some places still use them for special decorations. Also my Aussie husband helps complement of variety of my products with his wood turning. We both enjoy being working together as artists. We service all areas of Australia and welcome international orders.
Rie spoilt me terribly with a wonderful selection of Japanese goodies which I will share with you now :)
p.s. take note of the super cool cloud tape that my package was sealed with awwwww !
